This series of posts is dedicated to the many, many six packs, pony kegs and pints that have sauntered into my life at one point or another.

Trivia is pending. My annual excursion into pop culture minutiae and sleep-deprived revelry, primarily grounded in a reunion of my oldest and dearest friends, is a mere ten days away as I type this out. For the first time in fifteen years, I am not making arrangement to cross multiple states in order to get to the camp my team calls its temporary home. The muscle memory of my soul is thusly all out of whack. I keep feeling an internal tug, a certainty I have chores that are being neglected. For one thing, I just know I’m supposed to be stocking up on Valdez, the delectable coffee stout offered up by Western North Carolina’s Pisgah Brewing. Featuring coffee sourced from Dynamite Roasting, their nearby compatriots in the creation of irresistible beverages, it is the ideal beer for an event that involves the willful disruption of a sleep schedule. When the weekend in question rolls around, I know there will be an instance or two when I groggily go to retrieve a Pisgah Valdez only to feel a sudden pang of loss. Lucky for me, the ice-filled washtubs will be stocked well with other options. Still, I’ll miss this rich, velvety treat with a hearty kick.
